Why should I use your product?

Your landing page is your elevator pitch to your consumers. Are you using that space effectively?

That's okay, you still have a second chance to lure them back with your "thanks for registering" email. Does it grab your consumers?

User experience isn't an add-on, it's what makes (or breaks) your product. Unless you've developed a technology that turns spam emails into gold, your consumers won't be willing to invest the time to figure out what makes your product great.
