Below you will find a schedule for Startup Camp, to be held May 4-5, 2008 in San Francisco's Moscone Conference Center South.

As you'll see, much of the content is undeveloped. This is because Startup Camp will follow an unconference format: the content of the conference will be created and managed by the attendees during the General Assembly rather than by one or more organizers in advance of the event.

If you have some ideas for a great discussion topic at Startup Camp San Francisco or just want to see the ones that have already been proposed, be sure to go to the discussion ideas page.

[In true unconference style, start times are subject to change. Please check back for updates.

12:30 - 1:00 Networking Break
1:00 - 1:40 Harnessing Social Networks For Success

Panel Presentation

In this panel, Startup Camp Head Counselor, David Berlind, will consult a panel of experts to get their insights on how startups can leverage social technologies for success.

Gone are the days of traditional marketing where you bring in some MBAs or hire a traditional ad, marketing, and PR consultancy to control the horizontals and verticals of awareness and buzz for your goods and services. That’s because it’s no longer you (the seller) and them (the buyers). It’s "us", the community. Since the beginning of history, customers have always been willing to have a conversation about a seller’s goods and/or services (how many times have you heard the bad news about the new restaurant?). Now, thanks to social networks and technology, that conversation can scale. Globally. Are you a part of it, or are you out of the loop? Do you even know it’s happening? Forget about controlling it. That’s out of the question. What’s "in" the question is how you participate in the dialog. Or even host it. What works for your customers can work for you too. You just need to know where to begin. But it’s not easy. There are so many social technologies (none of which work the same or serve all of your customers, if any) and so little time a resources to devote to them. Especially if you’re a startup.
